Food drive kicks off at GBN

Glenbrook North has officially kicked off its food drive, which will end on Tuesday, November 22.

The drive began Monday, November 7. All food collected will go to three local organizations that include the Northfield Township Food Pantry, The ARK and Vital Bridges. The ARK is a not-for-profit, community-funded health and human services agency located in Northbrook that works with members of the Jewish community. Vital Bridges is an organization that helps people impacted by HIV and AIDS.

This year, Glenbrook North is encouraging all types of food donations such as cereal boxes and pastas. Dr. Mike Tarjan, assistant principal of student activities, said after contacting the local organizations, he learned they were in need of a variety of food – not just cans.

Faculty from GBN and GBS also will compete against each other during a charity basketball on Tuesday, November 15 at Glenbrook South. Tickets are $3 and all proceeds will benefit the three local organizations.
