Village President Sandy Frum proclaimed Tuesday, Aug. 7 as National Night Out during last week's Board of Trustees meeting.
"The weather will be great," Frum joked at the meeting. "Guarantee it."
On Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., entrance to the Meadhowhill Aquatic Center will be free as Northbrook Police and the Northbrook Park District host the 8th Annual National Night Out, according to a village staff memo.
Guests will get a chance to meet Northbrook's Police Chief Charles J. Wernick along with other village officials during a night of DJ entertainment, free food, games and raffles.
The Northbrook Police Department will also provide tips on crime prevention, when they're not busy getting dropped into a dunk tank.
National Night Out is a community wide event designed to promote the partnership between village officials, Northbrook Police, the Northbrook Park District and the Northbrook community. It's meant to be a setting for community members to learn about crime prevention and public safety.
In the event of rain, the program will not be rescheduled.
