A ComEd worker was shocked Thursday afternoon while working near the Metra station downtown, according to Northbrook Fire Department Deputy Chief Ron Schinleber.

The fire department received a call around 1:40 p.m., Schinleber said, and sent an ambulance and rescue squad to the scene. The worker, a 39-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Schinleber said he was not aware of how the incident took place, and that ComEd would conduct an inquiry. He was also not able to release information on the man's condition.

ComEd spokesperson Benie Currie said the employee was working on a pole installation project when the injury happened.

"There was electrical contact that did occur," Currie said. "This doesn't happen every day."

Currie was not able to provide details on the man's condition either.
