Deer Causes Car Accident on Edens

The Northbrook Fire Department responded to an accident on the expressway where a man hit a deer that went through the windshield and landed in the back of the car.

Deer Causes Auto Accident on the Edens

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday Sept. 3, the responded to mile post 30 on the Edens Expressway for a reported car accident. Upon arrival, crews found a single vehicle that had struck a deer causing the deer to go through the windshield, coming to rest in the rear of the vehicle. The male driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The deer succumbed to its injuries.

Seven Vehicular Burglaries in One Week 

Over the week, seven burglaries to vehicles were reported and investigated by the . Items removed from the vehicles include tools, backpacks, cell phone and a GPS unit. Police investigators are working to identify suspects and recover any items if possible.

Five of the seven burglaries occurred in a commercial area where locks were broken to gain access to the vehicles. The other two burglaries occurred in the 1500 block of Spruce St. and 2300 block of Asbury Rd.

GMC to Film Truck Commercial in Northbrook 

A production company representing GMC trucks will be filming portions of a commercial in Northbrook on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. The filming will take place on Cherry Ln. between Cedar and Meadow, and will require periodic closings of Cherry for a few minutes at a time.

The production company has hired a three-person detail to conduct traffic/pedestrian control. Special consideration will be made to assure that the filming does not interfere with children leaving school and school crossings will not be impacted. Additional filming will take place in the parking lot of the .

Village Seeks Public Input for Sustainability Plan

The Village of Northbrook and the Northbrook Park District are working together to develop a sustainability plan that using the community’s vision for environmental awareness. The public can make suggestions using an online form

The Delta Institute was hired as a consultant for the sustainability plan.

Northbrook Fire Assists Wheeling with Garage Fire 

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday Sept. 7, Northbrook’s Engine 10 was dispatched through mutual aid to Wheeling for a garage fire attached to a house. The fire was contained to the garage with significant smoke damage to the house. No injuries were reported and Northbrook calls were covered by Paid-On-Call personnel during the incident.
