Grab and Go Kids Planner: Harry Potter Fans, You're In Luck

Activities this weekend include a train show with the Hogwarts Express, Harry Potter 7 and a vaudeville variety show.

 

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
Where/When:
2 – 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 – 10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26; Northbrook Public Library
Got a Harry Potter fan on your hands? Park the kid in front of the big screen at the library, which hosts two showings of the film on Saturday.

Rapunzel the Musical
Where/When: Saturday, Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m. at Leisure Center and Senior Center
Why Go: Presented by the Northbrook Musical Theatre for Young Audiences, this retelling of the classic fairy tale with song and dance is sure to delight.  Children can meet with the characters after each show.
Pricing: $8 in advance, $10 online or at the door; Group discounts available.

Family Sock Hop
Where/When: Glenview New Church School, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Tap your toes to the beats of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s at this family-friendly event.
Pricing: Free

Trains in a Winter Wonderland
Where/When:
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26; Deerfield Public Library
Why Go:
Thomas the Tank Engine and the Hogwarts Express will be rolling into the Deerfield Public library as part of the North Central O’Gauger’s model railroad exhibit. Train buffs of all ages are invited to the all-day show, which also features replicas of popular regional and historical lines.

Vaudeville Variety Show
Where/When: Des Plaines Theater, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
Why Go: This family-friendly, modern take on vaudeville will feature performers whose talents range from juggling to comedy, magic and more.
Pricing: $12

Chicago Land Kids Expo
Where/When: 9-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 and 10-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, Renaissance Convention Center, Schaumburg
Why Go: The ultimate kid universe under one roof. Kids can play on inflatable rides and games, hang out at the petting zoo and party with Radio Disney.
Pricing: $10 for Adults, $5 for kids ages three and up.
