Heads Up, Drivers: Storm Sewer Work On Techny Through 2013
A project to expand storm sewers will block both lanes of eastbound traffic on Techny Road through December 2013; cars will be rerouted via Willow Road.
Drivers heading eastbound on Techny Road can expect to be rerouted through December 2013.
Beginning May 22, contractor Primera Engineers will begin work on a project to expand the storm sewers on Techny Road and reduce flooding in the surrounding area. Crews will install wider storm sewers, add relief sewers, reconstruct the road surface and add new signals at Pfingsten Road, according to resident engineer Sven Flodstrom.
Due to construction, both lanes of eastbound traffic on Techny will be closed between Second Street and Pfingsten Road for fifteen weeks beginning in mid-June, according to village officials. Eastbound access to the North Suburban YMCA and Covenant Church will be restored after that time, but further eastbound travel will be blocked off for the duration of the project.
“There will be a signed detour, basically letting traffic know about Techny Road,” Flodstrom explained. “The detour route is going to be utilizing Pfingsten, Willow and Shermer.”
Crews will also be installing relief storm sewers on Pfingsten Road between Techny and Canterbury Drive, according to Flodstrom. That project will necessitate intermittent closures on Pfingsten Road, although one lane in each direction will always remain open.
