Good Evening, my name is Bob Schieffer. I will be your debate moderator tonite. I’ve been doing this since the president was riding a little blue bike wearing a little blue bike helmet. Oh. He still does? How about since before Mitt Romney was a millionaire? No, huh? Anyway, this debate is all about foreign policy. Let me introduce myself. My name is Bob Schieffer.
Much has been made of the fact that the President has gotten 8 more minutes to speak during the first two debates. People from the Obama campaign have given us a good reason for this; the President speaks slower. Therefore, we have made some adjustments to tonite’s timekeeping methods.. when the President speaks, we will count to ten before starting the clock. When Governor Romney speaks, we will speed up the timer. We want to be fair here.
The first question will go to Governor Romney.

BS: Governor, you insist on talking about this little mishap in Libya even though the administration keeps giving better and better explanations for what happened. Please tell us about your military background.
MR: Thanks, Bob. Great to be here. I’m looking forward to seeing how you can help the President out of this quagmire of deceit and also to see how many times you interru—
BS: Thank you, Governor Romney. President Obama, what have you to say about Libya and Governor Romney’s military experience?
BO: Thank you, Bob. Not many people here know that Bob has been doing this so long that he has already been inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame.. that’s my one.. um, uh.. ‘arti-fact’ for the evening.
BS: Well played, Mr. President. You have two minutes left. Oh. This was the Libya question? Time to move on..
BS: On to China. China’s GDP will pass the USA’s in less than 5 years if things don’t change. Mr. President, you have two daughters who will be growing up in this world. What are your plans regarding China?
BO: Let me be perfectly clear. We’re making sure that our daughters’ schools require Mandarin as a second language. It’s a um..big world out there. It’s not just us. USA is just another..uh, country. Get used to it.
BS: Governor? You still have 7 seconds left.
MR: Lower corporate tax rates and –
BS: ..been a pleasure being here with Mr. Reagan and Mr. Carter tonite. and I am still Bob Schieffer.

Sue Obama speaks slowly because like the scarecrow in the Wizard of OZ , he has no brains, he is told what to say and read speeches, and off a computer screen as to what he is supposed to say. When he has to actually talk facts his facts are lies and they are found out later in Facts Finder that obama does not know what he is talking about, he is just like a jabbowalke, talks and talks and talks like a dumb thing.

Make a bigger mess, destroy this country, make us a laughing stock in the world that he have such an idiot president who is illegal, has a fake birth certificate, was barred from practicing law as a lawyer as he was found breaking the law himself, who has a fake social security number from someone born in Pennsylvania 1989, obama is a joke and you democrates are the fools that follow him like sheep to the slaughter.

David you are a typical democrat a dumb one. Ask what kind of background obama came from, chicago gangstere, corrupt business with Acorn, under the table dealings with the democrates and behind closed doors away from the republicans. obama is a rude and crude man with "me first" attitude. You can see obama has nothing to say but knock down Romney, he has no facts and figures and did not abide the rules of " you have your time to talk and I have mine". He interrupted constantly and was a true A$$hole image.

Obama spent more on his trips to Hawaii than he makes in a year, so who got the bill??? US

If Obama wins, who is he going to blame the mess on that he inherits this time? Himself? I doubt it. It is always someone elses fault. However, after four years of ineptitude it is no longer Bush's. It lands straight on Obama's shoulders. Sorry Dems, you can no longer blame Bush. You need to look at Obama and admit he has done one lousy job.

"for you low info. republican voters"
thanks for bringing that up, David. Pew released a study saying that in this election cycle, Republican voters are much more knowledgeable about the issues than Democrat voters. And if you know much about politics, you know that Pew is not a right leaning organization.
Now on to your talking about what is known as 'Bainport'.
Do you know when Romney left Bain Capital?..to run the United States Olympics in Salt Lake City?
You want to blame Romney for Sensata? Do you also want to blame Dusty Baker for the Cubs lousy year this year? or Ozzie Guillen for the Sox' collapse?
Let me tell you something about Sensata.. like Cindy Sheehan and Code Pink, like the 'Occupy' movement, like what will happen to Sandra Fluke, in two weeks from now, the Democrats...the loudmouth Ed Schultz' of the world, etc.. won't give a damn about Sensata or the people there. They are being USED. And you are a willing tool to keep the narrative going.. until election day, that is.

Obama is also rude and does not abide by the rights of his time to talk, he butts in and cuts Romney off and interrupts all the time. What a jerk he is and shows what an idiot he is and how he is going to continue to destroy this country by his lies. Promises and promises and he will never do what he says. Protect us , hahaha, he has not even gone and done anything constructive with regard to the attack at the at embassy and death of four of our citizens. Romney keeps changing his position and saying anything he thinks the voters want to hear. He built was his own personal wealth by dismantling companies and putting people out of work!! That does not qualify him as President of a country that needs the kind of responsible leadership that our President has provided. Romney is obviously going to do what is best for him and his Wall street buddies. He does not care about 47% of the American people. WAKE UP!!Don't let your personal prejudices get in the way of true progress and a good ,safe and prosperous future for all of us and for our children. No one could have completely fixed the mess GWB left behind in 4 short years, particularly in the very depressed GLOBAL ECONOMY! The housing crisis, the failure of large financial institutions, the bailouts; all started when GWB was in office and that was just the tip of the iceberg. What the president has done is to stop America's downward slide and create a platform for recovery and sustainable growth, all this while coping with two wars, the Arab spring, Israel's vulnerability, Iran's ambitions, al Qaeda terrorist efforts, etc. and worst of all a Republican party whose only mission was to say NO!!! A vote for Mitt Romney is a vote to favor the wealthy, a vote against women and their rights and a vote to disregard 47% of the American people. Do the responsible thing for you and your children. If we put Romney in the White House, all of us, the middle class, will regret it.

@Johnny P... "he built his personal wealth by dismantling companies and putting people out of work.."
Johnny, do you know what kind of companies SOUGHT Bain Capital's help? Companies that were failing. Companies that were getting ready to close the doors.
For every company that Romney was not able to save..that's right. SAVE. He was able to help 4 more succeed. Bain had a batting average of 80%!
Sports Authority...Staples, Inc...Domino's Pizza...AMC Entertainment, etc.. these are companies that would not be in existence if it weren't for the skill of Romney and Bain Capital. There are many, many, more. how many people are employed at companies helped by Bain?
You want responsible leadership? You think you have gotten that from Obama?
Give me the successful businessman who has been the governor of a state that is the opposite of his political party and knew how to work with those people over a guy who never even worked in the private sector, was schooled as a lawyer and was a US Senator for a year before announcing for POTUS...and he has been a failure.

On a serious note, I think Obama has good ideas...but the main problem is he does not know how to create jobs. First & foremost our country needs jobs and we need our economy to grow. I, like any other voter, am not a fortune teller and I can only hope Romney can pull it off if he's elected. What I do know is Obama clearly CANNOT do it. Let's face it, the President isn't the only one who makes things happen (as it relates to job creation) but it's not really my problem if he and his staff cannot accomplish this, it becomes OUR problem as it affects OUR community, OUR family and OUR friends. As far as I'm concerned, Obama and his staff had their chance...they blew it. I hope that others will step up and vote AGAINST Obama and show the media and others who protected his administration enough is enough. Hey, if he wins the electoral college vote, at least he'll know the U.S. citizens have had enough of the lack of results and maybe if nothing else that will invoke real change for our country.

How many jobs bills and trillions of dollars need to be spent to prove that government or jobs bills do not work. Wasn't the stimulus supposed to create jobs? I'm glad that congress refused to vote on adding to our 16 trillion debt. Private companies create jobs, by being left alone from Obama.

Chris, i'm not sure if Obama is lying or if he is just delusional.
You know that when he left the stage after the first debate that he thought he nailed it. that's the truth. David Axelrod was left with his jaw on the floor when Obama told him that he thought he did really well.
Maybe there's some truth to the rumors that Obama still does cocaine. Pretty sure that the Donald Trump 'bombshell' will be about Obama selling cocaine when he was in college.
If that ends up being the case, most of the people on the left will say "oh, that's ancient history...he was in college..etc" It leaves me thinking that maybe the guy still does blow. It's out of your bloodstream in 48 hours. He's buddies with JayZ, who admits to formerly selling cocaine. Does anybody think that it's beyond Obama to do some lines in the White House with these rappers he hangs out with? That might explain for some of his behavior.

Dan,
You maintain that Romney will do better than our President because, by sharp contrast, he is a succesful businessman and was govenor or a state.Well isn't that ironic,so was George Bush who, by all accounts was a succesful businessman and the Govenor of Texas from 1995 to 2000.
America gave him two terms to make a complete mess of its financial structure, destroy lives of many who lost their savings, homes and jobs.America entered its longest post-WW2 recession which started in 2004 and peaked in 2008. He left office in 2009 and handed the total disaster to the inexperienced Harvard lawyer in 2009.By then the avalanche of problems that America faced were mind boggling and the Republicians, rather than helping to stop the bleeding were determined to sabbotage the democrats at the espense of the American people, by just saying NO to every Democrat initiative to fix a broken financial system, save the auto industry and create jobs. And now you blame the deficit on Obama? You blame the lack of jobs on Obama? You blame him on not being able to completely fix a broken economy in 4 years that took 8 years to destroy? The republicians under GWB will go down in history as creating one of the most consequential eras in American history. And you want to put them back in power to recreate the same set of policies and attitudes that almost completely destroyed a great nation when we are still in a healing mode? I believe that Americans are smarter that that!!!
Dan Arenov
3:19 pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2012
Johnny, are we past the Bain Capital stuff then? ok.
Bush was a businessman, but does not have the business acumen that Romney does.
We can argue about the causes of the financial meltdown, but there is plenty of blame to go around, including the people that insisted on lowering the income requirements (mostly for minorities who could not achieve the 'American Dream' of home ownership) for purchasing a home and then letting these people get into really bad mortgages. Bush was against this, but gave in at the end.
Now for Obama. He spent the first two years of his term pushing Obamacare while he should've been focused on making the environment better for businesses to hire. He had the House and the Senate for almost two full years!
By the time the 2010 elections rolled around, people were sick of the way the Democrats were running things.. the midterm elections were a referendum on Obama and the Democrats.
So what were these House Republicans supposed to do? The people voted them in to stop all the spending that Obama was doing.. to stop Pelosi and Reid (even though they survived the election). And they did what they were sent to Washington to do.
Obama has no idea how to create a job. He thinks the gov't needs to hire people to dig ditches and then hire other people to fill them. The Republicans stopped them, especially since the Democrats refused to put forth a budget! You don't spend when you don't have a budget.

RB, let's talk about flip flopping.. and issues of 'character'.
It's now been established that the White House rec'd emails from Libya within two hours of the terrorist attack on the embassy, making it crystal clear that it was an Al Qaeda group responsible for this planned attack on the 11th anniversary of 9/11.
Obama sent his people out to lie to us and say that it was "..spontaneous protests from an anti-Muslim video"
He then jumped on Air Force One and flew out to Las Vegas for campaigning.
How is that for character? Is that what you want from your president? That's what we have.
You want to talk about whoppers? Obama instructs Susan Rice to go on five Sunday news shows and say that it was the video that was responsible...FBI shows up to the video guy's house in the middle of the night and arrests him. He's still in jail for violating terms of his probation..wasn't supposed to use a computer.
Flip flopping... Obama said in the debate with Candy Crowley that he said it was 'terrorism', but there are videos of him speaking to the United Nations and in tv interviews afterwards where he blamed the attack on the video. Which one is it, Mr. PRESIDENT?
And then on the Daily Show (you need a TV Guide to keep up with this president) he says that 4 people getting killed "isn't optimal". The mother of one of those heroes said "no, it's not optimal. my son is very dead".
That's the character you want from an American president?

Flip flopping is a moot point in my opinion because I can't think of one politician who doesn't do it. Quite honestly, I'd prefer a candidate who changes his opinion based on voters since they should be working for us any way, again, considering they all do it anyway. Politicians are influenced by lobbyists and special interest groups as we all know and it's just the way the system works regrettably. There has not been enough progress made under the current administration and probably will not be enough progress made with the same people in office for the next 4-years. Like whoever you want, dislike whoever you want but the bottom line is we need change! Change is difficult for many people so it makes me think we'll have to suffer another 4-years with a lack of leadership in the office and that's disappointing.
Dan Arenov

Brandy, when a conservative changes his mind on an issue, it's called 'flip flopping'.
When a liberal changes his mind on an issue, it's because his opinion is evolving.
I agree with you that if a politician has a different stance on something than he did 5 years ago, and can explain why he feels differently about it now, it's ok...as long as it's not because of ..like you said, lobbyists or pandering to special interests.
We all mature, evolve and flip flop. Hell. I was a liberal when i was young, dumb and full of....it.

Just realized I am a victim of vote suppression. No longer in the 10th. Have been in
the 10th for my entire life. I am very proud of my community and those who have
represented us over the years. I would not live anywhere else. I now live in the
9th congressional district represented by Jan Schakowsky. What a disappointment
to wake up on election day with no representation. Ilinois, what a mess!
Need I say more. I will not be voting. First time since 72'. I suppose I am not a victim of vote suppression. I just got a bad case of "Vote Depression".

Macromite, i feel sorry for you.. your 'representative' marched arm in arm last year at an Occupy rally with members of the Communist Party. seriously. Jan Schakowsky is the liberal's Wicked Witch of the Midwest, with Pelosi out west and Wasserman-Schultz out east.
And Schakowsky is more radical than either one of them.

It is a hard realization for some of these die hard liberals to feel the sting, their idol is a failure with record unemplyment, record massive debt, credit downgrade, record food stamps, record welfare, record poverty, lower middle class income, higher health insurance premiums. Your nightmare will be over shortly and you can go back to being the snarky unhappy self, by the way, the economy will improve immediately when they announce Romney's victory, Happy Days.
