Newsweek Ranks Glenbrook North Among Top 5 Illinois High Schools

Newsweek released its annual list of the top U.S. high schools Saturday.

 

Glenbrook North '11 grads, pat yourself on the back. You can tell future employers that you graduated from one of the top five high schools in Illinois, according to Newsweek's annual rankings.

In this year's list, released Saturday, Glenbrook North was ranked No. 97 in the country out of more than 1,000 schools, and No. 5 in Illinois. Topping the state charts were Northside College Prep in Chicago, Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale and Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, respectively.

Revamped for 2011, Newsweek's methodology weights graduation rate, college matriculation rate and AP tests taken per graduate at 25 percent each; average SAT or ACT scores at 10 percent; average AP or IB scores at 10 percent; and AP courses offered per graduate at 5 percent.

The link attached to the article has GBN ranket 856 in the country and 22 in the state.

Hi Scott. Thanks for your comment. I checked both links and if you search by "Illinois" in the 2011 list you'll see that Glenbrook North was ranked No. 5 in Illinois and 97 in the country. Perhaps you're looking at an old list? Unfortunately, I can't link directly to the Illinois rankings.
