Smoke was still billowing at 7:30 p.m. from the Wilson Lawn and Landscape garage at 2500 Pfingsten Rd. in unincorporated Cook County, though the fire had been put out.

No one was hurt in the large fire that the department responded to at 5:18 p.m. and took about an hour to put out, according to Northbrook Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Richards, who was still on the scene as firefighters continued spraying the smoking structure.

Richards said the source of the fire remains under investigation.

John Di Tomass, owner of the landscaping company, told the Chicago Tribune that no one was in the building during the fire, though his home is nearby.

My wife and I were at the house and we just discovered flames coming out of the garage,’’ Di Tomass told the Chicago Tribune.

Traffic is moving along Pfingsten Rd. in both directions as of 7:30 p.m.

The Northbrook firefighters received assistance from Glenview, Northfield and Lincolnshire fire departments to extinguish the flame.
