Northbrook Woman Arrested By Deerfield Police For Shoplifting
According to Deerfield police, the woman had a reputation for shoplifting.
Robin Piper, 48, of Northbrook was arrested Feb. 11 for retail theft after Deerfield police spotted her walking in the 600 block of Waukegan Road, became suspicious, followed her and made the apprehension, according to Deerfield Police reports.
According to the report, Piper is “known to this department and surrounding police agencies as having a problem with alcohol. When (she) becomes intoxicated she is known to enter various retail establishments to steal.”
After police saw her walking into Whole Foods, they alerted store management, according to the report. The store began surveillance and Piper left without being seen taking anything by police. The officer then followed her into Barnes & Noble. The officer remembered the store had a “no trespass” order against her there for a previous incident.
When police confronted her at Barnes & Noble and asked her to leave, she was also questioned about her trip to Whole Foods, according to the report. She admitted to taking items from the grocery store. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. March 5 in Park City.
