Patch Pets: Pepper

Each week, we feature cats and dogs available for adoption from Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook.

Pepper is an attractive 7-year-old tortoiseshell cat who lived in a home most of her life but, unfortunately, was surrendered back to Heartland. In her former home, Pepper lived along with other cats and dogs and even became bonded with one of the resident cats. Pepper is a very mellow and sweet-natured lap cat - and she even knows her name! She spends her quiet afternoons doing what she likes best: lounging on the bench. She likes to play and give head butts. Being a big-boned girl, she'd love to have an area where she could explore and move around freely. Pepper has a special dietary requirement and it may be best to keep her on her prescription diet of Hill's c/d for the rest of her life. We have also found that a high-sided litter box works well for her. This poor kitty really misses the pleasurable life of a comfy home. Do you have it in your heart to give this affectionate feline the new beginning that she deserves?

Adoption Information- Heartland's cat adoption fee of $100 includes up-to-date vaccinations, spay/neuter, deworming, FIV/Feline Leukemia test, and a microchip.  Kitten adoption fees are slightly higher and reduced rates are often offered for special needs cats.

Heartland Animal Shelter, at 2975 Milwaukee Avenue in Northbrook, is open from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 12-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  More animals available for adoption can be found at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net.
