Patch Pets: Shyanna

Each week, we feature cats and dogs available for adoption from Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook.

SHYANNA- Come meet Shyanna, a volunteer favorite! She's a beautiful Siamese mix, 3 years young as of November 2011. Shyanna is such a wonderful, mellow girl. She adores receiving attention and petting and is ever so friendly. Shyanna was found by a rescue group and was then brought to Heartland.

Now let's hear it from Shyanna: I'm extra special! If you'd like a cat that enjoys socializing when you have friends over, then I would be a great match for you! I'm such a happy girl, and I'm always delighted to join in as "one of the girls" at any staff or volunteer meetings here at the shelter. I must confess that I like to show off the whole time, visiting with everyone, rolling over, posing, and just acting so cute. The ladies love it!

Let me tell you a little more about myself. I'm easily entertained by watching the birds outside. I'm frisky and enjoy playing with soft toys and with other cats, too. I'm sooooo clever, that while I was in foster care, I learned how to press the button to open the garage door! Was my foster mom surprised when she came home from work! My favorite pastime is lying around in high places in the office pretending not to notice anyone. People often wonder where I am and search for me! When they find me, they're amazed at how I was "hiding" right under their noses. It's so amusing.

When dogs are checked in at the shelter, I'm totally cool with it; I don't flinch, meow, or hiss, even when a dog approaches me. Meals are simple; I have a digestive condition that is being managed with a prescription diet, which is readily available at veterinarians' offices. Because I need to restrict my diet, I would probably do best in a home where I would be the only cat. I like other cats, too, but they would have to eat the same delicious food as me.

As for now, I look forward to a great future with much hope. I just want to have that special person come into my life who will love me, care for me, and just enjoy me. Wouldn't it be great if that person were you?

Adoption Information- Heartland's Cat Adoption fee of $100 includes up-to-date vaccinations, spay/neuter, deworming, FIV/Feline Leukemia test, and a microchip.  Kitten adoption fees are slightly higher and reduced rates are often offered for special needs cats.
