Sneak Peek: Glenbrook North's Variety Show 'Storytellers'
More than 200 students will take part in 33 acts during a two and a half hour performance in this year's talent show at Glenbrook North.
The 2013 Glenbrook North Variety Show, Storytellers, opens Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and continues that Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. The 150 minute talent showcase solo student performances, song and dance ensemble acts, even a duet between a Spanish teacher and his freshman daughter.
More than 200 students will take part in 33 acts this year, said Andrew Wallace, the show's director and GBN's vocal music director. The show has been in the works since auditions in November.
"I think it's a pretty big deal," Jessica Nebolsky, 16, a member of the Ladies First song and dance group, said during rehearsals. "[The show] is probably on level with professional performances. All the students work really, really hard."
Patch caught about 10 minutes of a Tuesday night dress rehearsal and saw a 20-person song and dance number, a synchronized modern dance performance, an edgy one man take on the story of Goldilocks, a magic act and a singer/guitarist number. The show has variety, that's for sure.
"We are very privileged here," Ellie Sternberg, 16, also in the Ladies First group, said of the talent show's impressive production values. "We should be very grateful for the resources here."
Reserved seating tickets can be purchased in advance for $13 or at the door. For more information on the Variety Show, go to www.glenbrook225.org/north or call 847-509-2671.

I think a shout out should go to Diane DeRosa Reynolds who plans, Directs and organizes this show year after year. She has organized every last detail of this show so that it was able to run smoothly without her this year due to her unexpected illness and she will be truly missed! She really is the heart and soul of the GBN variety show! Best wishes to everyone in the show and to Mrs. DeRosa Retnolds for a speedy recovery!!!
