Two Things You Need to Know About Parking in Northbrook

As long as it's after the morning rush, it's free to park your car in the commuter lots--but watch out for the snow parking ban.

Villagers and visitors may have noticed some new green signs with giant “P”s on them around downtown—or at least, Village Hall hopes you have. In an effort to attract more visitors to the downtown area, the village has posted signs directing motorists to the lots on either side of the Metra station. The village wants residents and non-residents to know that parking is free in those lots after 10 a.m.

While there is ample parking downtown and on village streets, anyone parking in Northbrook in the winter should also be aware of the village’s snow parking ban. Drivers who park on village streets within 24 hours after a snowfall of two or more inches will be ticketed, according to Assistant Village Manager Dan Kaup.

“I would recommend that people park in their driveways in a significant snow accumulation to allow for our public works crew to be able plow up that snow,” Kaup said.
