All the advance publicity and controversy over "Bully" made me want to see it. Given the amount of bullying that goes on inside and outside of schools I was surprised to see not more than a couple of dozen people in the theater Friday evening. I think our schools are pretty effective in reacting to and controlling bullying, yet the topic is important and everyone, kids and parents, should see this movie. It helps us understand the effects of bullying on the kid, the effects on the family and how school and police officials often won't deal with the subject. What is often viewed as harmless teasing or "kids will be kids" has lifelong consequences, sometimes leading to death, for those involved.
