The bicycle racing track is named for Edward J. Rudolph, a Northbrook Park District commissioner who trained 1972 Olympics gold-medal-winning speed skaters Anne Henning and Diane Holum.

Benjamin Legion Post 791 donated the cannon to the village in 2007 as a memorial to veterans of the U.S. armed forces.
