The North Suburban Needlearts Guild welcomes Natalya Aikens, a woman who’s art is deeply rooted in her heritage. The Russian fairytales, folklore and decorative traditions are intermingled with imagery of her birthplace, St Petersburg. Her focus is on recycled elements; vintage fabrics of personal history, sheer, translucent effects; intense hand stitching and machine work as well as computer manipulation. In her lecture: “From Russia with Love- A Journey” Natalya asks How did I get here? She’ll tell how her art journey has taken many twists and turns; from fashion illustration to art quilting the road has had some interesting pit stops. Join her on a photo journey through fairytales, folklore and architecture.
The general meeting will be held on Tuesday November 13, 2012 at 9:30AM at the Gloria Dei Church, 1133 Pfingston Road in Northbrook. Guests are welcome. There is no charge for first time guests. Natalya’s lecture will follow the business meeting.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church offers worship services under the guidance of Reverend John Berg and Reverend Sarah Stumme, who are also husband and wife. Gloria Dei Lutheran Church also offers missionary programs, study groups, choir programs and a diversity of youth programming. Sunday school is offered each week and childcare is available during services.
