Chabad Going South

Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois has dispatched Rabbi Mendel & Yocheved Scheiman along with their two children to Carbondale, Illinois.

In one of his last appointments shortly before his sudden passing, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz of blessed memory, the late regional director of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, appointed the young Scheiman family to serve as Chabad representative to Southern Illinois.

Since their arrival they have been active in invigorating Jewish life at Southern Illinois University and in the Carbondale community. Their Friday night Shabbat dinners have become popular amongst Jewish students and staff.
