Heartland Animal Shelter Celebrates Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month in June

June is Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month and Heartland Animal Shelter, 2975 N. Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook IL is celebrating by reducing the adoption rates for cats over five months old.

During June, the adoption fee for cats five months to nine years old is $80. The fee for cats 10 years and older is $60. The fee includes the following vaccinations: Rabies, Feline Distemper, and Feline Leukemia. It also includes testing for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukemia as well as deworming and spaying/neutering. Additionally, each cat is micro chipped.

Heartland usually has about 70 cats and kittens of all sizes and breeds.  Most cats live in Heartland’s indoor cattery which includes feline-friendly shelves, large windows for bird watching, all types of scratching posts and cat trees and plenty of beds for long cat naps. While they wait for their forever homes, the cats receive love and attention from visitors, staff and volunteers. The Cuddle Room is home to some of the shelter’s shy cats who need a quieter environment. During kitten season, the Teen Room is flurry of activity with juveniles wrestling, playing and chasing each other.

Heartland Animal Shelter is a no-kill humane organization dedicated to finding homeless animals their forever homes while educating the public on spaying and neutering their pets in order to decrease pet over population. Because Heartland is a 501(c) 3 organization, all donations are tax deductible.
