Immediate Care Launches in Northwestern Medicine®'s New Glenview Outpatient Center

In a grand-opening ceremony that brought out state and local officials, Northwestern Medicine® unveiled Immediate Care at its new Outpatient Center at 2701 Patriot Boulevard in Glenview, Illinois. Immediate care is a new offering that entails an urgent care clinic staffed by licensed physicians and emergency medical technicians who treat a host of emergent, but non-life threatening, ailments ranging from fevers, colds and flu’s to pains, strains, and sprains.

Northwestern Memorial HealthCare President and CEO Dean M. Harrison and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Dean Eric G. Neilson were on hand to unveil the new service, along with the Center’s medical director, Cardiologist Micah J. Eimer, MD, FACC. They were joined by Illinois State Senator Daniel Biss, Illinois Congresswoman Laura Fine, Glenview Village President Jim Patterson, and a host of other attending officials from the Glenview Chamber and nearby township of Northfield who were all in attendance to welcome the rollout.

“The opening of this location is an important milestone to accomplishing our objective of delivering exceptional care, part of which means making our care more accessible to patients,” Harrison said. “We look forward to being in Glenview for many years to come.”

Unlike most non-emergency room urgent clinics, at Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care every patient is seen by a physician. This is an added convenience especially when a patient’s regular primary care physician’s office may be closed. Immediate Care staff is trained to evaluate and treat a variety of medical conditions in both adults and pediatric patients who are over the age of 6 weeks.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week and requires no appointment. Some of the more common conditions treated at Immediate Care include flu, fever, and colds; sinus infections and urinary tract infections; strains and sprains; poison ivy, animal and bug bites; and rashes and sunburns. Major injuries and traumas should always be directed to full-service emergency rooms.

Primary care services offered at the Glenview Outpatient Center include internal medicine and pediatrics. Specialty services will include cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, general surgery, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, optometry, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, sports medicine and urology. Laboratory and X-ray services will be offered immediately with advanced imaging services—like MRI screens and CT scanning—to be offered sometime this summer.

The Glenview Outpatient Center opened March 1. It is one of seven new Northwestern Medicine clinics in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, Evanston, Libertyville, Deerfield, Grayslake and Highland Park, Illinois.
