JOIN SENIOR HELPERS AND NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ALZHEIMER'S AND DEMENTIA EDUCATOR TEEPA SNOW AT HER APRIL 30, 2014 PRESENTATION

Healthcare Providers and Families Hear the Latest Dementia Care Information

    On Thursday, April 30, 2014 at the Niles Senior Center, 999 Civic Center Drive, in Niles,
nationally recognized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Educator Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA
will be presenting a workshop for healthcare professionals and a presentation for family
caregivers. These programs are sponsored by the Senior Helpers offices covering the Chicago
area.
           The Professional Workshop: Strategies for Improving Dementia & Outcomes is being
presented from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Whether you attended last year or not, Teepa will be providing
new information that will help you learn the latest strategies and techniques so you can improve
communications and relationships with your clients to help them live as successfully as possible
with dementia. Three CEUs are available.  The cost is $25 for professionals who require CEUs

            The Family Presentation: Life Changing Ideas for Families Struggling with
Alzheimer’s/Dementia is a free program that focuses on ideas from the Senior Gems Dementia
Education Program. “Teepa will present family caregivers with the latest strategies, techniques
and tools to help manage dementia, improve interactions and reduce conflict and stress,” says
Bob Tucker, a qualified dementia care provider (QDCP), co-owner of the Northbrook-based
Senior Helpers office serving the north and northwest Chicagoland area.
            Registration for the family caregiver presentation begins at 5 p.m. with the program set
for 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be provided. You can register for the program by

            “The dementia care seminar will provide essential information on how to have a positive
and meaningful relationship with loved ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia throughout their
journey,” says Abbie Tucker, M.A. senior advocate and client services director, certified senior
advisor (CSA) and qualified dementia care provider (QDCP). “Teepa’s information will help
care providers, family members and anyone who is trying to cope with the changes that happen
with dementia. Teepa travels across the United States to share her knowledge so there can be a
better understanding between a dementia patient, the family caregiver and the professional
involved in their care.”
    Many people in the healthcare field look upon Teepa Snow as an inspiration. “She is an
advocate for those living with dementia, and has made it her personal mission to help families
coping with overwhelming issues,” adds Bob Tucker. “After listening to Teepa, professionals
and family caregivers have a better understanding of how people with dementia see the world
around them.”
