North Suburban Y Launches Adventure Guides for Moms and Kids

Responding to popular demand, the North Suburban YMCA has announced the start of a new Adventure Guides group for mothers with children ages 5 to 9 for social activities and outdoor experiences. The new group will launch with an informational meeting on Thursday, November 7 at 11:00am, where interested mothers can learn more about Adventure Guides and discuss possible events.

The NSYMCA opened its Adventure Guides programs for fathers and children in September, and has since hosted a campout in the Y’s Family Park and overnight trips to Camp Minikani in Wisconsin. Adventure Guides also sponsors member-organized “circles” that plan their own meetings and casual outings. The new circle for mothers is led by volunteer Tara Wesselink with support from Y Adventure Guides Director Dan Bulf.

“It’s exciting to see a new group spontaneously come together with enthusiasm for the Adventure Guides program,” notes Bulf. “The mothers and children in the group will have lots of opportunities to bond with each other while making new friends and discovering new experiences.”
