Push America "Journey of Hope" Rolls Through North Suburban YMCA

Bike team on a mission to spread friendship and awareness for children with special needs.

The North Suburban YMCA welcomed the Push America "Journey of Hope" bike team for a stopover visit on July 15, a fun-filled evening that has become an annual tradition at the Y in Northbrook. Push America, the national charity of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, sponsors cross-country bike tours for its members that promote awareness and fundraising for children with special needs.
The North Suburban Y has hosted a PushAmerica stopover for several years, and launched a welcome party for local children with special needs in 2013. This year the Y partnered with the Great Lakes Adaptive Swim Association to put on a recreational swim meet, followed by a cookout and party for the bike team with community children. Despite the rainy weather, the fun went on in the Y's gym with dancing, games, and friendly socializing throughout the evening.
