Village President Frum to Address Business Leaders at Chamber of Commerce lunch

Northbrook Village President Sandy Frum will be the keynote speaker at the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce “State of the Village” luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 17th at the Sheraton Northbrook, 1110 Willow Road.
         In this annual presentation to the business community, President Frum will give an update on Northbrook’s economic development projects and offer some insight on how Village leaders analyze data in order to continually monitor economic trends that guide the budget process.  She will also explain how businesses can take advantage of useful information posted on the Village website, including the permitting process and zoning requirements.  
          Frum’s presentation will also include an overview of some of the major issues that have come before the Northwest Municipal Conference (NMC), an organization that she chairs.  The NMC advocates on behalf of 42 communities and represents over 1.3 million Illinois residents.   Issues monitored by the NMC include proposals include responsible bidder legislation which recently passed out of committee, and the need for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) reform.  In addition, she will touch on possible federal legislation that would discontinue the tax exemption on municipal bonds and a proposed tax on Internet sales.   
            Frum was re-elected to her second term as Village President in 2013.   She was first elected as Village President in April 2009.  A resident of Northbrook for nearly 36 years, President Frum previously served on the Village Board for 22 years as a Village Trustee.  She was elected as Chair of the Northwest Municipal Conference for 2013 – 2014 in June.
