Did Northbrook Get Snubbed on 'Most Exciting' Burb List?

Evanston was the only Illinois suburb to make the list. Do you think it deserves the spot? Should Northbrook — or another Chicago suburb — have made the list?

Agree or disagree: Northbrook should've made a top ten list as one of the "most exciting" suburbs in the Chicago area?

While it didn't make real estate blog Movoto "most exciting" list, one Chicago suburb did. Evanston ranked No. 10 on Movoto's list and was the only Illinois burb on there.

Evanston's blurb reads: "One of Chicago’s suburbs, Evanston placed fifth overall in terms of youthful residents and in the top 25 for nightlife."

Cambridge, MA was the top choice. Berkeley and Santa Monica, CA made the list, as did Miami Beach, FL and Tempe, AZ.

What do you think? Does Northbrook deserve its spot on the list? Does Evanston? Any other Chicago suburbs that you think got snubbed?

Northbrook is very far from exciting.

Totally agree...nothing exciting ever happening in Northbrook.

Great paint stores.

Apparently they don't know we want to add more boutique shops which has to ramp up our chances. If they ever come up with a list of exciting suburbs that shut down by 7:30pm we have a shot.

Absolutely NOTHING to do here. We deserved the snub 150%

Hmmm...No real downtown, no live music promotion, no nightlife, no good restaurants (except Pinstripes) NB Days-same old bands year after year after year, music in the park is the same as well, NB doesn't promote local talent in any way...The village that falls asleep by 9pm....Snoozebrook zzzzzzzzzzzz

NB is the way it is because there is always opposition to bring in change that will bring in younger adults. As the the median age of the population rises, the earlier the city goes to sleep...

Did anyone notice that all of the towns mentioned are college towns? No wonder all the young people

@ignorant a-- you are always complaining about something in Northbrook- if you are so unhappy here maybe it's time to look elsewhere- perhaps Glenview- they have Costco
IgnorantA February 03, 2014 at 09:12 AM
@CC, I actually don't live in NB per say, I live in Evanston, but I do own a few pieces of property on NB
Craig Heisner February 03, 2014 at 09:17 AM
I moved. Couldn't be happier.

@ignorant a--- so all that bitching about Walmart that will not affect you- you certainly fit your handle. @ Craig Heisner - glad you are happy anyone who isn't has the same option!

Ignorant A who doesn't even LIVE in Northbrook has an awful lot of ignorant things to say. Name soooo fitting. (PS-It's per se...hahah)

Funny how the anti-development chicken littles love it when people from Northfield chime in with support of their cause. Then they will justify dismissing a differing opinion because someone doesn't live in Northbrook. I see we now have Northbrook East whiners complaining about Mariano's. Par for the course. If a little traffic bothers you, move to Harvard, IL.

Not sure I follow your logic, i currently own four pieces of property here in NB and am pretty sure I have more invested into this community than you.... but I always laugh at the classic debunking tactics, when you can't dispute the facts, attack the person. Still waiting for your house to go on the market, (Anne) always looking for a bargain.
