Field of Honor
In honor of Memorial Day, Village Green Park goes red, white and blue this weekend with 1,901 American flags and other festivities.
With the help of local volunteers, the and other sponsors, the has transformed into a memorial for soldiers who have given their lives in the service of war and peace. The Field of Honor also commemorates village history--there are 1,901 flags because the village was founded 110 years ago in 1901.
Local religious leaders will hold a sunset ceremony every evening, and on Saturday and Sunday, local bands play in the gazebo. On Monday, a parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. from Western Avenue and Cherry Lane.
