Why Go:
Skinny Williams, Audley Reid and Thomas Bradford heat up cold nights with smooth jazz throughout February. While you’re there, don’t miss the grilled shrimp and green pea hummus appetizer, the truffled cheese pizza or the pear and apple bread pudding—all . Oh yeah, and did we mention bowling and bocce?
Pricing:
Jazz is free, entrees range from $9 to $23.

Beer and Wine Tasting for Heartland Animal Shelter
Where/When:
Winestyles, 105 S. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge; 5-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11
Why Go:
Do you like animals? Could you use a drink? Winestyles will be pouring beer and wine, with proceeds benefiting Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook, a no-kill shelter that works to place homeless dogs and cats.
Pricing:
$10 donation to participate and 10 percent of beer and wine sales will be donated to Heartland.

Enjoy a presentation on astronomy and outdoor sky viewing (if the weather allows). Review NASA's exploration of Mars with a representative from the Adler Planetarium. Sponsored by the Lake County Forest Preserve District.
