Al FrescoLife Through Opera-Colored Glasses performance
When/Where: Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m.; 306 S. Prospect, Park Ridge
Why Go: Petite Opera’s original comic operetta follows the adventures of Al Fresco, a first generation Italian-American raised by an opera-loving family. The English lyrics are set to famous music, providing an introduction to opera.

Why Go: Enjoy a Saturday morning outside with the family and raise money for a good cause. The event includes participation opportunities for all ages and abilities, including a 5k race, 5k walk and 1 mile run, and raises money for the Les Turner ALS Foundation, scholarships for and South high school students and projects.

Why Go: Assuming the weather’s good, what’s more fun than watching a kite fly in a blue sky? The first 500 kids will receive a free kite to assemble, decorate and fly. You can also bring a kite or buy one at the park from Chicago Kite. The event includes professional kite flying, prizes and a kite candy drop at 3 p.m.
