Get Out: Live Jazz At the Library, Pro Tennis in Winnetka and Fireworks on the Fourth

Check out a concert by Wilmette native and jazz pianist Adam Kromelow Friday, plus a day's worth of festivities in Northbrook July 4.

7:30 p.m., Friday, July 1; Why Go: New Trier grad Adam Kromelow brings his jazz trio from New York to perform at the library as part of a free concert series. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Kromelow has studied under jazz piano masters such as Jason Moran and Vijay Iyer.

Taste of Chicago
When/Where:
July 1 and 2 from 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. and July 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Grant Park, Chicago
Why Go:
Sample some of the best food the City of Big Shoulders has to offer in the closing weekend of the Taste of Chicago. Also pop by the entertainment stages to get some blues tunes.

When/Where:
7:30 a.m., Monday, July 4; Why Go: Get warmed up for the annual pancake breakfast and a day full of festivities with this 5k race. Following the 5k, there will a Liberty Lap Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. for kids ages 4-10.
Pricing: $5 for fun run, $15 for 5k race for ages 6-12 and $25 for ages 13 and up; register at Park District registration offices, online at nbparks.org or on race day from 6:30 – 7 a.m.

Fourth of July Festivities and Fireworks
When/Where: 7 a.m. – dusk, downtown Northbrook
Why Go: Fill your belly for a day full of fun with and live music by the Dooley Brothers, who perform from the gazebo on the . At 10 a.m., cheer on local police and firefighters in their , also on the Village Green. Go home and get out of the sun for a bit, then set up a lawn chair to enjoy , which steps off from Cherry Lane and Western Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Last but not least, begin at dusk.
