Law Enforcement Torch Run Goes Through Northbrook Sunday

Cheer on Northbrook police as they carry the "banner" for Special Olympics Illinois.

Fifteen Northbrook police will carry the Sunday as they traverse through parts of town to raise funds for Special Olympics Illinois.

The Northbrook leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run will start around 9:30 a.m. at Milwaukee Avenue and Hintz Road where officers will run two miles in a pack with counterparts from Northfield and Buffalo Grove. The ending point for their run will be River Road in Prospect Heights.

Runners along this stretch will be escorted by cars from state police, plus vehicles from the Northbrook, Norfield and Buffalo police departments.

An estimated 100 runners in all will participate in the Torch Run, which begins in Gurnee, winds through Gurnee to Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Northbrook, Prospect Heights, Northfield, Glenview, Niles and Skokie. The run concludes at Proesel Park in Lincolnwood.

The final leg of the run will be June 15 at the start of the State Summer Games, to be held in Normal on the campus of Illinois State University.
