Library's Summer Reading Program Begins June 1

The program for kids and adults alike offers prizes and coupons for reading.

Nothing's better than a lazy summer day and a good book, right?

Whether you're a child or a grownup, summer is a great time to enjoy some good books. And the Northbrook Public Library's annual summer reading program is a great way to get prizes for doing what you love.

Children up to fifth grade can join "A Midsummer Knight’s Read," the Youth Services summer reading club. Participants can get a prize each week for reading and enter a raffle drawing.

Sixth through 12th-graders can also join in the fun. For every one of five books read or two of 10 hours spent reading, kids win a prize, and anyone completes all of their reading by July 31 may choose a free book.

Even adults can get in on the fun. For every five of an author's first novels read, participants get coupons for free library DVD rentals and entry into the grand prize drawing. A list of suggested first novels can be found on the library's website.
