Do you love living in Northbrook?
Chicago Magazine says you have good reason to. It named the suburb one of the 12 best to live in based on low crime and good real estate.
The editors analyzed statistics from
Midwest Real Estate Data, the Illinois State Board of Education, the U.S.
Census Bureau, and local police departments to come up with
two lists, which showcases the 12 best suburbs and
12 best city neighborhoods.
Northbrook was one of four North Shore towns to make the list. Lake Bluff, Wilmette and Highland Park also get nods. The editors point to the abundance of green space and good schools in Northbrook, as well as the relatively low taxes, thanks to Northbrook Court and corporate headquarters like Allstate and Crate & Barrel.
“Best of all, you need not be a zillionaire to
afford a residence here,” the
story states. “You’ll find plenty of mid-rise apartments along Waukegan
Road and the juncture of the expressways, plus ranches and colonials of all
sizes. Three-bedroom 1,500-square-footers often go for less than $350,000.
Other suburban towns that made Chicago Magazine's list include: Highland Park, Woodstock, La Grange, Geneva, Frankfort, Hinsdale, Barrington, Orland Park, Wilmette, Northbrook and Lake Bluff.
