Northbrook Man Can't Shake Craigslist Image of Dying Father

When Radovan Vojcic found photos of his dying father on Craigslist last month, he says he slammed his computer and broke the monitor. 

"To see a picture like that was unsettling," Vojcic said. "I see the picture pop up in my head at least five times a day."

The Jovcic family has filed a civil lawsuit against Northbrook's Lake Cook Health Care Center after photos of Radovan's dying father appeared on Craigslist in October. 

However, the nursing home changed ownership on Nov. 1 and the current management says they have nothing to do with the incident.

Frances Meehan, the lawyer for the nursing home's current administration, issued a statement that "the facility's current ownership and management have no knowledge of the issues or the underlying facts that have been the subject of recent public scrutiny, nor did it, nor does it, have any involvement or responsibility with respect to any matters that occurred prior to November 1, 2012."

Chicago law firm Fischer & LaMonica is representing the Vojcic family.

According to Michael LaMonica, the actual liable party will be determined in the discovery process of the lawsuit, which was filed on Nov. 16. 

"This was a senseless act that was done for no reason except to hurt someone," LaMonica said.

Radovan Vojcic said he is concerned other photos might still be out there, of his father and other Lake Cook Health Care Center patients.

"I just want to find out who the hell did this," Vojcic said. "I want to make sure they don't have other photos and this doesn't happen to anyone else."

Meehan's statement on behalf of the nursing home said the health center is "committed to providing the best care available to its residents and making every effort to improving their quality of life."
