Northbrook Speaker to Dispel Stereotype About Orthodox Jews

Allison Josephs founded Jews in the City to show people that Orthodox Jews can be open-minded and pro-women.

Think that Orthodox Jews are overly modest, repressed, sexist and anti-scientific? Northbrook speaker Allison Josephs wants to dispel that stereotype and will speak with an audience on Sunday at the Northbrook Theatre, 3323 Walters Ave., Chicago Tribune reported.

In 2007, Josephs started Jews in the City to show people through humorous YouTube videos, social media and other online content that Orthodox Jews can be open-minded and pro-women, “People are getting ideas about us through the headlines, movies and television,” Josephs told the newspaper, “And they portray characters that are always over the top and are ridiculous caricatures.”
