Northbrook’s Early Settlers Honored in Aux Plaine Cemetery Dedication

On Thursday, June 27, Northbrook officials will attend a special dedication recognizing the historic Aux Plaine Cemetery.

Hidden in plain sight for generations, the Aux Plaine Cemetery looks nothing like what it was more than 150 years ago - the site where some of Northbrook’s earliest settlers were laid to rest.

On Thursday, June 27, village officials, members of the Northbrook Historical Society, decedents of Northbrook’s early settlers and other guests will attend a special dedication recognizing the historic Aux Plaine Cemetery, located at the northwest corner of Dundee and Sanders Roads.

The dedication will be held at the cemetery site, located on the property of the Chase Bank, 4125 Dundee Road, on Thursday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m., and will feature remarks from Village President Sandy Frum, Northbrook Historical Society President Judy Hughes and descendants of those laid to rest at the site.

If you have questions regarding the cemetery dedication, please contact Michael Strong at the Northbrook Village Hall, (847) 664-4058.
