Make time to celebrate your mother, grandmother, godmother and other beloved women this weekend at one of these local events for families of all interests.
Do the Dirty Work
Take the kids to Saturday, May 7, for the Mother’s Day gardening workshop. Little ones will learn to plant a pretty pot for their moms (or grandmas). Then, turn their new knowledge loose in the family gardens Sunday while the adults sip iced tea on the patio. Pre-registration is required for the workshop.

Let Mom Win
If Mom asks for some peace and quiet, take her to play 18 holes at Sportsman’s Country Club. Shop the sale in the pro shop, play a round of golf, and then treat her to lunch at the Clubhouse restaurant. Tell everyone you “let her win” in honor of Mother’s Day. Check the weather forecast and book a tee time in advance.

Make a Play Date
Let Mom have some fun at . Owner Bruce Westenfelder said Mother’s Day will bring two groups to the store: moms who lead their families in a group project, such as a platter that features everyone’s handprint, and groups of moms who leave their kids at home for some seriously fun times painting vases, spoon rests and other ceramics that they can enjoy. Either way, the staff at Color Me Mine ably handles ALL the clean-up.
Strike a Balance
plan for Mother's Day has something for everyone. A champagne brunch from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. will include mimosas, omelets, prime rib, seafood, desserts AND a chocolate fountain (kids 5 and under are free). After you’re filled to the gills, enjoy some friendly competition on the bocce courts – a fine sport for mothers of all ages and skill levels.
Pop the Cork
owner Sean Parisi recommends that Mother’s Day begin with a little bubbly: either a glass of champagne or a mimosa. Let Mom choose her own treat Saturday, May 7, at WineStyles’ sparkling wine tasting from 2-5 p.m., or ask the staff to recommend something else that she might enjoy Sunday.
