Patch Picks: Sweet Spots For You and Your Sweetie On Valentine's Day

We've put together this rundown of what's going on in Northbrook this Valentine's Day, taking care of the legwork for you so you can take care of the ones you love.

The award-winning hotel eatery has a number of specials throughout the holiday, starting the weekend before. Friday night features the usual seafood buffet, and Saturday night features a lover's getaway at a very affordable $130. Those who stay overnight on the 12th receive a free bottle of wine and a romantic four-course dinner for two. The rest of the weekend features Chef's specials TBD. Sarah Stegner's flagship restaurant will be offering a special menu to lovebirds on Monday night. It's largely TBD, but we're told it'll include Tallgrass beef, filet mignon and grilled organic salmon, among other choices. The regular menu will be available as well.

Like many other pizza joints, this local serves up heart shaped pizzas. When ordering, be sure to mention that you want your order in a heart shape. The pies come  small or medium size, served pan, deep dish or in small, medium, or large size in their crispy thin crust. 

In addition to its regular menu, Ruth Chris will be offering specials at two tiers:  $42.95 for a 6oz filet and shrimp or fish and a second, more expensive tier at $49.99 featuring bigger filet, ribeye, Hong Kong style sea bass. Both prices include soup or salad and another course. Reservations strongly suggested.

This Japanese steakhouse is still working on finalizing the menu, but it will be offering a fixed price multiple course option on Monday night. The staff we spoke to said she estimates the price will be $65 per person, which will include an appetizer, choice of entree and more.

"I can't tell you much," said the waiter we spoke with when we asked him about Valentine's Day specials. "But I can tell you that there will be a very cool ice cream dessert 12 inches tall." Pressed for more, the employee at this steak house admitted that there would be more items on offer than the regular menu, such as Chilean Sea Bass and Halibut and filet with scallops.

When asked if this local favorite was getting in on the heart shaped pizza action Monday night, Patch was told "We can do it if you request it." After thinking a moment, the  cashier who spoke to us added jokingly, "It may not be the prettiest pizza..."

All pizzas will be automatically made heart shaped unless otherwise requested.

The usual special on Mondays is 1/2 price pizza. This time, they'll be heart shaped upon request.
