Updated 1:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4.

A white four-door Chrysler 300 sedan collided with a Honda Pilot SUV on Waukegan Road at Thornwood Lane at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The accident caused the closing of both northbound lanes and– at the scene, one southbound lane– of Waukegan Road as rush hour began. Traffic backed up and moved at a crawl for those traveling east on Shermer Road after northbound drivers on Waukegan Road were diverted to Shermer until the former was re-opened. All lanes of Waukegan Road were re-opened at 5:25 p.m., when the vehicles involved in the accident were towed away.

The Honda displayed front end damage and at least one door of the Chrysler, which appeared to have been T-boned, had to be held in place with straps before it was removed.
