Mark your calendars now for the village’s annual Earth and Arbor Day celebration Saturday, April 21, on the . More than 50 businesses—including Northbrook Patch—will be on hand to talk about ways to save money, save energy and help the environment.
The day begins with an opportunity to give back and clean up the village. Anyone interested in helping to pick up debris and trash should meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Village Green.
Following the clean-up, families can explore the environmental exhibits on the green, sample healthy foods and pick up free tree seedlings from the village between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Live music goes on from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and kids can take pony rides all day.
Meanwhile, in the west side commuter lot by the Metra station, the village will be taking oil and latex paint, molded Styrofoam, CFL and tube fluorescent bulbs, tires, printer cartridges, household batteries, computers, TVS and electronics for a special recycling collection. Bring documents to be shredded and used sports equipment to donate to local shelters.
During the fair, please stop by and say hello to Patch on the Village Green! We’ll be handing out seeds for kids to plant along with some other green goodies.
