Whiz Kid: Geography Champ Will Compete At State Level
Two-time Maple School geography bee winner Brian Filipiak scored among the top 100 in the state, earning him the right to compete at the state level.

Accomplishment: Filipiak this year, then took the National Geographic Society's written qualifying test for the state competition. He scored among the top 100 test-takers, meaning he will go on to the 2011 Illinois Geographic Bee, April 1 in Glen Ellyn.
Key to Awesomeness: This is the second year in a row that Filipiak has won his school's geography bee.
