Whiz Kids: Wescott and Willowbrook Students Raise $5,300 For Japan

Accomplishment: Asked to "Fill the Can for Japan," Wescott students and families contributed $4,300 in just four days for Red Cross relief efforts in Japan. Meanwhile, Willowbrook Kindergarten teachers Patricia Liss and Amy Schutz led students in a bake sale that raised more than $1,000. The money will also go to help the Red Cross serve victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Key to Awesomeness: "This activity not only helped the kids hone their math skills, it gave them the chance to reach out to those in need," Schutz said.

"What 'thoughtful thinkers' we have at Wescott School," commented Principal Terri Carman. "A special thank you to all of the parents and staff members who matched their children's or class' donations."
