Who is Libertyville's Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Obama their person of the year for the second time. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Obama their Person of the Year, again!

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including the president, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. But, the president took the title again four years after he first won the award as president-elect in 2008.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Libertyville's Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?

Or, who do you know who impacts the lives of others, and deserves to be recognized?

Please share your pick, and the reasons why, in our comment section below.

I would like to nominate Syd Holmes for his tireless recycling efforts in our community. He is always there to lend a hand at a moment's notice. Thank you Syd for all that you do.

I read a comment about a young man named Syd Holmes. I happened to have the opportunity to meet Syd and want to comment. Syd is a refreshment to our community and young people in general. I know of several people that have been compromised by situations regarding their homes and vehicles and could not get anyone to respond. This young man; a jack of all trades, went beyond the norm and helped these residents restore normalcy to their life. Good for you SYD!

The Hamiltons We'll add our vote for Jeff Welch, a tireless, caring, "quick responder" volunteer whether it's for a big organization like the Red Cross or a neighbor who needs help cleaning out their storage unit. Jeff is quick to get others to pitch in and help those who need them. Libertyville is richer to have people like Jeff!
