Catawampus Opening Reception

The opening of the ninth annual juried art show includes live music, light refreshments, viewer’s choice voting and an opportunity to speak with artists about their work.

The show features work from artists across the country selected by two distinguished jurors, Paul Erschen, assistant professor and chair of the Department of Art & Design at the University of St. Francis, Joliet, and artist Michael Rea. The 81 entries include drawings, paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, photography and mixed media.

This year’s prizes include a $2000 First Place Purchase Prize sponsored by Friends of the Library, $1000 Second Place Prize from VISOgraphic, Inc., $500 Third Place Prize from Library Furniture International and two $200 Viewer’s Choice Awards from Northbrook Arts Commission and First Bank of Highland Park. Some of the music will be sponsored by Whitehall of Deerfield Healthcare Center.

Exhibit catalogs will be available on the library's website and throughout the library.
