College Application Essay Bootcamp

July 19, 2012–Winnetka, IL Send your college-bound student to bootcamp this summer – writing bootcamp. Armed with pen and paper, students will receive the support they need to get their application essays out of the way before school starts. StoryStudio’s College Application Essay Bootcamp will give prospective undergrads the confidence to write personal statements and impress college admissions counselors across the country.

Over the course of three group sessions and two individual sessions, students will brainstorm topics and ideas, write first drafts, and receive feedback to write a second or third draft. Students will get all the help they need to meet the challenge of developing a strong personal statement and memorable essays, allowing them – and their families – to concentrate on other college decisions.

Fraser Coffeen, the camp’s instructor and an English teacher at Roycemore School, says, “It’s important to start the college application process early, in order to minimize stress during the fall semester of a student’s senior year.” A former writer for sports websites and author of multiple plays and screenplays, Coffeen is excited to extend his knowledge to motivated high school students at StoryStudio’s North Shore location.
