Northbrook Artist Displays Paintings At YMCA

Bonnie Lecat visited the North Suburban YMCA's community gallery on Wednesday where her work is on display until March.

Bonnie Lecat, the Northbrook-based fine art painter, has an assortment of new and older pieces on display at the North Suburban YMCA community gallery until March 2.

"The Y is awesome, they teach kids about art," Lecat said during a reception at the YMCA on Wednesday. "Kids need to see what real artists do."

The displayed work, an assortment of serine and nature-inspired mixed-media paintings, is made with a combination of paints, waxes and plasters.

"As an artist, I'm constantly challenging myself," she said.

According to Lecat's artist statement, shared with guests at the reception, she hopes her work will introduce people to "thought provoking concepts that will be personal and unique to each viewer."
