It's official, Sarpino's opened in downtown Northbrook. The new delivery and carry-out service operates out of the former Northbrook Garage, at 1384 Meadow Rd.

It's been about a year since the location was slated to become a pizzeria and bad luck with a contractor delayed the storefront's opening, but general manager Tisha Akulich says customers have already picked a favorite pizza off the 50+ item menu.

"The pizza Margarita is one of the favorites around here," Akulich said. "It's not like that at other stores."

Tisha Akulich, 22, runs the franchise with the help of his parents, Ina and Alex. Each of them have previously worked at other Sarpino's but this is the Des Plaines family's first joint venture. When the family first moved to the U.S. from Belarus four years ago, Tisha says his first job was hanging Sarpino's promotional flyers on people's doors.

"We're working as a team, we're here to focus on serving the Northbrook community," Tisha said. "People in this community deserve an exceptional experience."

The brand values an "excellent product and exceptional experience every time," according to Tisha, and they use fresh and store made ingredients to deliver on that promise.

Now if only it were a bit warmer out, we can finally get some Village Green pizza picnics underway.
