The marine will be stationed at the salon collecting the gifts fro 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The salon asks guests and the public to bring a donation for either boys or girls ages 0 - 13.
"Every month, we strive to give back," said Andreas Hogue, owner of Andreas Hogue Salon and a Glenview resident. "Our salon makes it our mission to help others, so we are constantly seeking out ways to get involved and better the community."
Since it's inception in 1947, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve "Toys for Tots Program" has distributed more than 370 million toys to more than 173 million needy children. This charitable endeavor has made U.S. Marines the leaders in looking after needy children during the holiday season.
Most recently, the salon collected donations for Hurricane Sandy relief and delivered to the Des Plaines Police and Fire Departments who packed a trailer for shipping to those impacted by the storm.
"Our clients are a wonderful group of people who are always enthusiastic about getting involved and giving back," said Hogue. "Our staff, our guests, our salon are at their best when we are working together to give back. We draw great energy and excitement from such efforts," he said
