My Pie Pizza Place Shuts Its Doors

The Northbrook location of the Chicago-based pizza shop closed for good last week.

Citing the rising costs of operating combined with the economic downturn, Northbrook's  restaurant served its last slice of pizza just over a week ago.

The pizza and sandwich shop shut its doors after two and a half years of business next to the in Northbrook. A sister location in Bucktown remains open.

"It is with heavy hearts that we bring news of the closing of our Northbrook location," reads a statement on the business' website. "Due to rising operational costs and a dwindling economy, we were unable to thrive as a restaurant should."

"My son Ethan will be devastated," wrote Danielle Parker Pollack. "Your restaurant is his favorite. We're there almost every Friday. Are you already closed? Can we come in one last time?"

According to the restaurant, weekday traffic was busy but weekends did not see enough customers to sustain the business.

"It was a very tough decision, but we didn't have much of a choice in the end," My Pie posted on Facebook. "We had to cut our losses."

My Pie was founded more than thirty years ago by current owner Rich Aronson's father, who at one point expanded from the original Rogers Park location to 23 locations in nine states. Today, the Bucktown restaurant is the only remaining My Pie in business.
