Northbrook Visions For Vacancy: Wilsher Plaza Storefronts

Could a couple new stores help the Wilsher Plaza remain afloat until Shermer Rd. opens back up to traffic?

At the corner of Willow Rd. and Shermer Rd., on the north side of the Union Pacific derailment site that blocked off Shermer Rd. over the summer, sits a small, struggling shopping center that's trying to survive a sudden drop in traffic and customers.

The shopping center on the 2600 block of Shermer Rd. is probably too small for a Walmart, but could be the perfect size for a visionary entrepreneur or a business newcomer dreaming of opening their first store.

Could a couple new stores that serve a niche community or offer a must-have for the general public be the surprise solution to the shopping center's struggles?
