Northbrook WineStyles Will Shut Its Doors July 1

Two years after they took over the store, Northbrook WineStyles owners Josh and Paige Parkinson announce they are moving on to other ventures.

The WineStyles store in downtown Northbrook will shut its doors as of July 1, the owners announced Tuesday.

An e-mail to customers explained that the store will be consolidating its stock with the WineStyles in Glenview. The e-mail also hinted at future ventures to come.

“As many of you know, we have a couple other wine-related family businesses,” the e-mail said. “Those businesses have grown faster than expected and are now demanding much more of our time, while retail growth has not kept pace. As is often the case, tough decisions have had to be made as to where best to allocate our time and resources.”

Patch spoke to co-owner Josh Parkinson, who confirmed that the store was closing but said he preferred not to talk about future ventures or what would happen to the downtown location at this point.

Parkinson and his wife, Paige, took over the store in July 2010, expanding its selection beyond wines and extending its hours.

"I grew up around wine and I've always been interested in it," . As the former owner of a real estate company with a background in law, he described the store as “an opportunity for me to make a lifestyle change and get involved with something I truly love."
